Maddie's Nightmare (Explicit Violence, Spooky)

Madelaine ran as the thing behind her gave chase. It screeched in rage as it slammed into trees, smashing them without hesitation as its black blood oozed from broken limbs of its carelessness. It screamed in anger as it seemed to have lost her as she hid in the bushes. She focused on disappearing from the world. It couldn't find her, right? She saw the creature bite into itself, ripping its flesh apart for a new mouth with razor teeth forming in a matter of seconds. The screaming increased as another mouth opened. Madelaine felt herself grow nauseous as her head started to pound. The world grew woozy. The young woman stabled against the bush's base and tried to calm herself. It stood tall, about eight feet, and had long limbs. Though it had humanlike physical features, it wasn't close to having any humanity. All over its body were bones piercing through the skin and razor-sharp teeth, and Maddie noticed many mouths all over its body. It had no eyes. No nose. No ears she could see. Just mouths.

Madelaine wondered how it could find her, but the mighty creature darted at her as though it suddenly knew where she was. A shallow scream escaped her mouth as she barely escaped its pounce. It shrieked, her mind becoming overwhelmed with fear and dread. Madelaine couldn't move, the ringing echoing in her ears.

"Move..." she breathed. "Move!" The young woman yelled, but she couldn't. Laughter ran from her lips, though she hardly knew why it did. She couldn't stop, bloody tears rolling down her face. She was going to die. Madelaine couldn't fight it.. the helplessness. No. A noise she couldn't explain escaped the creature as it moved towards her, the mouths. Oh god, the mouths.

The mouths were smiling wide, the needle-like teeth gapping wide with some mouths wide open. Manic laughter cut as Maddie managed to cut a scream between giggles. Those red tears poured like rivers down her face. Picking the young woman up by her hair, the pain barely registered. It held her close to it, the teeth growing closer to Maddie's face, and in that instant, the fear grasped her chest tightening, and she felt she needed air. And then it's teeth sunk into her arm. The pain shot through her body like wildfire, and the woman screamed loudly. As loud as she could, hoping to get someone's help or at least an attempt at intimidation.

It didn't eat her there; it toyed with the mortal. Its long teeth pulled out of her flesh only to dig into her other arm. Blood oozed down her arms, and Madelaine's screams caught in her throat. She could just make slight whimpers now; the pain grew so much, and she faded in and out of consciousness. As though it knew, its fist collided with her stomach, and she gasped for air involuntarily. It quickly shook off the unconsciousness, much to her displeasure. Maddie wished to die at that moment. Not that she wanted death to begin with, but death was undoubtedly better compared to this. It looked to her face as time blurred as the torture continued. Its many mouths opened wide as her broken, dull eyes stared into the dark abyss past its teeth. Then it slowly placed her head into its most enormous mouth, the one where a normal human's lips would be, and as its tongue caressed her face... it crushed down on her neck. The taste of iron filled her mouth as blood expelled from her lips.

Madelaine bolted up violently, throwing up blood into her lap. Her hands quickly went to her face, weeping loudly.

What.. what the fuck was that? What was that thing!? Why did she keep having dreams of such terrible monsters? Were they an omen? A sign? A sign of what? What awful things were coming? What was happening!? Maddie held her head tightly, wailing. Why did she have to see these things? What had she done to deserve it? What did it all mean!? It had to mean something. Who was she supposed to tell? Who would actually even believe her?

"Something terrible is happening. Something terrible is coming," Maddie repeated excessively, rocking herself back and forth in the bed. She did this for hours and refused to go back to sleep that night. Madelaine couldn't. She wouldn't.
